Lenora Klassen
I completed my physiotherapy degree in 1998 from the University of Alberta. From the very beginning I have had a love for people and the therapeutic process. I spent a number of years working with a non profit organization where I learned the importance of listening without an agenda while being a positive part of their life process. All of these passions come together in my approach to physiotherapy. I use a hands on approach that is both gentle and powerful. I am trained in cranio-sacral therapy, visceral and neural manipulation with an osteopathic approach. I spent the first 7 years after graduation in Alberta, then moved to BC. I spend “spare” time in my garden, reading and studying, hiking or playing flute..
My education
I am committed to further learning and have studied extensively with the Barral Institute, Upledger Institute, Chikly Institute and have dabbled in training from Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing.
I am a Certified Practitioner for both Visceral Manipulation and Neural Manipulation as well as a Certified Teachers Assistant for both. The process of certification has elevated my understanding of the work to higher levels and elevated the precision of my hands.
I am a Certified Teachers Assistant for the following classes:
- Visceral Manipulation 1-6
- Listening Techniques 1 and 2
- Neural Manipulation 1-4
- Visceral Vascular Manipulation Upper and Lower
- Visceral Pediatrics
- Vagus Nerve and Autonomic Nervous System
In addition, I have taken the following classes:
- Advanced Visceral Neck and Thorax
- Manual Articular Spine/Pelvis, Upper
- Strategic Crossroads
- Clinical Applications Disc Disorders
- Physiological and Endocrine Effects
- Neural Manipulation 5
- Neuro-visceral manipulation thorax and abdomen
- Clinical Applications – 5 levels
- VM clinical integration -Concussion Management
- Visceral Dissection
- CranioSacral 1-2
- SomatoEmotional Release 1-2
- Fascial Membrane Technique – Cavities, Extremities
- Stecco Fascial Manipulation Level 1
- Lymph Drainage Techniques 1-3
- Brain 1-4 (Chikly)
- Lymph applications to Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, MS and Chronic Neuroinflammations
- Somatic Experiencing (Peter Levine)
- Orthopeadic Division Level 2 upper and lower
- And more…
About my treatment style
My desire to make a real difference in peoples’ health led me to a hands on approach. After treating complicated injuries with only modest improvement I began to pursue training in another form of hands on treatment. Thus, I am now trained in cranio-sacral therapy, visceral and neural manipulation with an osteopathic approach.
This can be of particular benefit for those who suffer from chronic pain or who have had multiple injuries, surgeries or medical conditions where traditional physiotherapy has failed. The reasons this method is effective is because it directly addresses adhesion that form in the neural system (brain, skull and spinal cord), and organs (abdominal, thoracic and pelvic). These can also have an effect on the endocrine system such as the thyroid and adrenals.
The following are an example of conditions that might benefit from this approach:
- Migraine Headaches
- Chronic Neck and Back Pain
- Motor-Coordination Impairments
- Colic
- Autism
- Central Nervous System Disorders
- Orthopedic Problems
- Traumatic Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries
- Scoliosis
- Infantile Disorders
- Learning Disabilities
- Chronic Fatigue
- Emotional Difficulties
- Stress and Tension-Related Problems
- Fibromyalgia and other Connective-Tissue Disorders
- Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
- Neurovascular or Immune Disorders
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Post-Surgical Dysfunction
